Govt. Swami Atmanand Post Graduate College, Narayanpur
Introduction
Govt. Swami Atmanand Post Graduate College, Narayanpur (C.G.) was established on 14th September 1988 under the Adivasi Vikas Yojana by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, under the Department of Higher Education. Initially, the college began as an Undergraduate Arts faculty co-education institution, starting with only 10 students in the Jan-pad building. At that time, the institution was operating under the name of Government College and was affiliated with Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur.
In 1992, the college was officially registered under Section 2f and 12B of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, marking an important milestone in its development. When the college was established, there were just 157 regular students enrolled in the discipline of Arts. The primary aim of the college was to provide higher education in the backward and rural area of Narayanpur, located in the Abuzmand Tribal Zone of Chhattisgarh state.
As the college grew, it expanded its academic offerings. From the academic year 2001-02, the college introduced the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Commerce, and later, in 2005-06, the Science faculty was also established. Over the years, the college has continued to serve as a vital center of higher education, catering to the educational needs of the tribal population and contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.
